Arts Section Theatre Group – Death of a Salesman
Following our successful events during spring 2018, the Arts Section are again running a theatre-going group in 2018/19. This is for Lit & Phil members who would like to attend performances together with a pre-performance talk and discussion accompanied by refreshments at the Lit & Phil meeting space in Church House on Deansgate. Our first event this term has already been fixed, to see Queen Margaret at the Royal Exchange Theatre.
We can announce that our second visit will be at the Royal Exchange Theatre to see Arthur Miller's modern classic Death of a Salesman, starring Don Warrington following his critically acclaimed performance as King Lear.
Willy Loman is an ordinary man, he’s the New England man, he’s well-liked. For thirty-six years he’s been on the road, paying his way and one day he’s going to come good. When his son Biff returns home, suddenly things are looking up. Because you reap what you sow, right?
Tickets have been reserved for the 2.30 p.m. matinée on Thursday 25 October. As before, we will meet at Church House around 12.45 p.m. for light refreshments and an introductory chat about the play and its post-war American background with Tony Jackson.
We have reserved 15 tickets at Stage Level - but please note that, due to this production booking up very fast, we can only offer "high seats" towards the back of Stage Level. (These seats are comfortable and have an excellent view but require a step up to reach them; your feet rest on a bar not the floor.) The tickets are normally £32.50 but the Lit & Phil discounted price is £30 and includes a small contribution to refreshments.
If you would like to join us, please click on the link below and let us know how many tickets you would like. This does not constitute a completed booking as we will invoice you and we will only be able to secure your tickets upon payment. Please book early to avoid disappointment as we must close the bookings on 10 September in order to pay for our reservations in good time. N.B. anyone paying by cheque needs to ensure we have received your cheque before 12 September.
We look forward to your company!
